This rooftop sign was re-done in place. It was made from laminated printed vinyl. The sign underneath it was also made of laminated printed vinyl. With our installation skills we can often save customers money by re-skinning existing signs.

PVC boards

We are now using pvc board mostly to make our signs. The advantage with pvc is that is will not chip or rot like painted wooden signs.

Cut vinyl, printed laminated vinyl, Sandblast

Cut vinyl signs are signs made by cutting a single color of vinyl and applying them to a board to make letters and logos.

The Kitty Hawk Kites sign above is constructed with cut vinyl applied to pvc.

 

Printed vinyl signs are made by printing ink onto a special adhesive vinyl, then laminating them, and applying to a board.

Printed vinyl signs can be have photographic realism.

This sign is located at the Kitty Hawk Surf Company across from Jockey's Ridge.

The large triangular sign measures 13' x 22' and draws attention to the surf company from the highway. It is made from printed vinyl that is laminated and applied to pvc sheets.

Sandblasted signs are higher end signs that have dimensionality to them Cottage signs are often made this way.

Each method has advantages

For simple lettering and logos, the cut vinyl has good color pop.

For complex and photographic quality signs, you can't beat printed vinyl.

Cottage signs are usually made by sandblasting 3D letters and graphics into a form.
